Portugal Cove--St. Philip's (Newfoundland) in 1908. With a historical tradition of having been founded by Portuguese navigators, the settlement was burned by the French in 1696 but endured. Possesses a deep Roman Catholic tradition, plus additional fisherfolk roots from Ireland, the West Country,, Channel Islands. McCord Stewart Museum, access number VIEW-4524.
